The VVF CAP-ITEM App was developed by the National Fire Brigade as part of the research and development project IN PREP (An INtegrated next generation PREParedness program for improving effective interorganisational response capacity in complex environments of disasters and causes of crises ), co-financed by the European Commission in the Horizon 2020 program, as an experimental application to increase the quality and quantity of information on vegetation fire extinguishing interventions.
In the launch period, (2020), the application will be tested on a sample of three regions in which the C.N.VV.F. plays an important role in the regional AIB system: Abruzzo, Liguria, Umbria. The diversity of the territory of the three regions, in terms of morphology, type of vegetation, size of the plots and alternation in the space of the different classes of land use, should allow an articulated and complete experimentation.
The VVF CAP-ITEM App aims to provide an extremely simple and easy-to-use tool for firefighters' operational staff, through which the Rescue Operations Manager (ROS) can detect the geographical location of a point inside o at the edges of the areas covered by the fire together with the related data - first of all, the intervention sheet.
The CAP-ITEM VVF App consists of an application for mobile devices, compatible with Android / IOS systems, for the collection of data relating to vegetation fire interventions (AIB interventions) by the VVF staff present on site. The data collected, including possibly a representative image of the event, will be sent in the format provided for by the international C.A.P. (Common Alerting Protocol) to the Cap-Item platform, the CNVVF national information management system for alert messages.
The application is distributed through the official stores for Android / IOS and can be used after authorization by the administrator of the CAP-Item platform who provides the user, via e-mail, with username and authentication token.
At the time of saving, the card is inserted in the sending queue to be forwarded to the central acquisition service as soon as the data connection is available.
