This game allows 3-, 4-, and 5-year-olds to have fun while practicing in a game-like manner to correctly answer the orientation of the Landolt ring (C) used in visual acuity tests. By playing the "Baby Eyesight" game before the visual acuity test conducted at the 3-year-old health checkup (at home or venue) or at the health checkup at a kindergarten or nursery school, you can improve your child's understanding of the test.
〇Game features
This is a story that depicts the Landolt ring (C) as a "bitten donut." Place pictures of animals (rabbit, elephant, giraffe, panda) in the four directions of the ``circle break direction'' of the Landolt ring (C), and ask ``what did you eat?'' Answer with animals.
① The elephant invites the giraffe, panda, and rabbit to the party. Check if you know the animals here.
② Next, the donut “I ate it” quiz will begin.
A ``bitten donut'' appears in the center of the animals in four directions and asks, ``Did you eat that?'' Answer which animal is in the direction of the bitten donut.
③ From now on, "donut" will change to Landolt ring. Once you are able to answer the question, the Landolt ring will gradually become smaller. You can get used to the Landolt ring while having fun playing it like a game ("bitten donut" = "Landolt ring (C)").

〇What is amblyopia?
A child's vision begins to develop from birth. When a child is born, they can only see vaguely, but by seeing things every day, their eyesight gradually develops and they begin to be able to "see".
However, if a child suffers from severe farsightedness or strabismus (inability to focus) during the period when their eyesight is developing (from birth to around 6 years of age), their vision will remain poor and their development will stop. This is called "amblyopia."
The scary thing about amblyopia is that even if you start treatment after the period when your vision has developed, your vision will not develop. Therefore, if treatment is delayed, your eyes may not be able to see clearly even if you wear glasses or contacts.
The key to treating amblyopia is early detection and early treatment. The sooner you start, the more effective the treatment will be. Infants and young children do not complain about abnormalities in their vision.
〇For this reason, it is very important to have a visual acuity test at the 3-year-old health checkup and the legally required health checkup at kindergartens and nursery schools for early detection of amblyopia.
〇There are issues with reliability as there are individual differences in the growth of young children and testing methods are difficult (such as comprehension ability). Additionally, since measurements take time, there are issues with the labor on the part of the inspector and the concentration of young children. These issues also lead to the current problem of overlooking amblyopia during health checkups for 3-year-old children. In order to reduce problems as much as possible, it is important to improve your understanding before taking the vision test.
