A Navigation app using Mapbox Technology and designed for Android Auto.
Provides a map-based route navigation service using an Android Auto enabled car head unit.
Allows a navigation route to be selected either on the screen or via voice input and then provides screen display and voice navigation guidance.
In addition, the app has a free drive mode where if no route is entered a map is displayed.
To enhance driver safety the app connects to traffic authorities and displays and speaks alerts published by a traffic authority for road network hazards on the road immediately ahead such as "Queue Ahead", "Surface Water, Slow Down", "Accident Ahead", "Vehicle Fire, Slow", " Stopped Vehicle, Slow" and similar.
A label on the map screen shows if the app is connected to the local traffic authority.
In free drive mode traffic authority guidance is displayed in a green box in the top left of the map. In Navigation mode traffic authority guidance is displayed as a high-level notification
In addition, the app displays the distance to the next emergency refuge on UK Motorways showing a driver the distance in metres.
Emergency refuges are provided at intervals on certain UK Motorways providing a safe place for a vehicle to stop when a mechanical issue or a breakdown occurs.
Generally breaking down on these roads and stopping can be unsafe and providing the distance to the next refuge supports a driver by showing clearly how close a refuge is ahead.
The app also displays the current speed limit and the road and a car's current speed highlighting if the speed limit has been exceeded
At the moment traffic authority guidance is provided in the UK for England, Scotland, and Wales, provided by the the National Road Traffic Authority for each country.
