Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar Municipal Corporation and Aurangabad smart city developed this mobile application to monitor and inform citizens about the location of daily solid waste management vehicles and other emergency vehicles.
The Solid Waste Management Department in the Municipal Corporation is a highly crucial department. Approximately 300 garbage trucks operate throughout the city every day. These trucks work from around 5 AM in the morning until late at night, following schedules set for each department. Currently, the prevalent practice is that these garbage trucks play music through loudspeakers after entering their respective areas. However, in some quiet zones, the use of loudspeakers is restricted. This has led to situations where citizens are not always aware of when the garbage trucks arrive or leave their areas. Consequently, garbage sometimes gets dumped on the streets or in open spaces by residents. This not only creates a problem with public spaces but also poses a health hazard for the citizens. Therefore, using modern technology, it is possible to find solutions to this issue. Creating a mobile application for citizens' convenience can provide information about when the garbage trucks will arrive, their current location, the time it will take for them to reach individual homes, the contact information for the sanitation workers, and more, all available with just a click.
This application will provide valuable administrative insights. It will the real-time location of the garbage trucks, enabling quick response in case of emergencies. Citizens can easily locate the nearest garbage truck based on their current location and the vehicle's registration number. This will enhance citizen convenience and improve the efficiency of waste collection.
