Mala barka 2 is a continuation of the concept of the Mala barka project. The new project upgrades the acquired knowledge and experience, and with its successful implementation it has been extended to the entire coastal cross-border area of ​​Croatia - Slovenia.

Eight partners are participating in the Mala barka 2 project: Primorje-Gorski Kotar County, Kvarner Tourist Board, Maritime and Historical Museum of the Croatian Littoral Rijeka, Association and Ecomuseum "Batana House" (Rovinj), Izola Municipality, Izola Tourist Board, Piran Municipality and Maritime Museum-Museo del mare "Sergej Mašera" (Piran).
The total value of the project is 2.16 million euros, of which 1.84 million euros are grants, and it is co-financed by the EU Regional Development Fund from the Cooperation Program INTERREG V-A SLOVENIA CROATIA 2014-2020.

One of the results of the project is the development of Guidelines for the development of sustainable maritime heritage tourism for the destination Mala barka, which includes the North Adriatic area.

A unique marking of 70 maritime heritage attractions discovered in the North Adriatic (50 in Kvarner and Rovinj + 20 in Izola and Piran) was made and 13 small boats of traditional shipbuilding were renovated, eight of them in PGC. As part of the project, 3 interpretation centers, 2 info centers and 17 events dedicated to maritime and fishing heritage were organized and opened, such as regattas of traditional boats (Kvarner Festival of Sea and Maritime Traditions FIUMARE in Rijeka, Festival and regatta of traditional sailing boats Mala boat Mošćenička Draga, Krk sails, Fishermen's week in Crikvenica, Lošinj sails around the world, Rovinj regatta Mala barka, Fishing holiday in Izola, Maritime cross in Piran).

The main goal is to promote the project and develop a cultural and tourist destination.

The Maritime Heritage Interpretation Center in the town of Krk has been newly renovated and opened, where a traditional boat - the Bragoc from 1960 - has been renovated.
In the Slovenian part of the project, in Izola, the renovation of the traditional pasara was completed, which became part of the House of the Sea (House of the Sea) Izolan, and as part of the project Mala barka 2 an andragogical-pedagogical room was arranged to attract attention and interest of the youngest. In this room, children can learn about the flora and fauna of the Adriatic and fish through the video game "Hunting with Bepi". Visitors can also watch interesting videos with VR glasses.

The Interpretation Center in Izola was also renovated and the ship Biser was renovated.
The highlight of this project, which completed and completed the Mala barka 2 project, is the renovation of the camp in Nerezine on Mali Lošinj, which is part of the exhibition of the Lošinj Camp Interpretation Center in Mali Lošinj.

Mala barka 2. has been launched into its new life, proposes ideas for joint tourist itineraries, presents numerous tourist markings, introduces maritime heritage into the Slovenian and Croatian registers, and get to know all this better in our virtual museum (https://muzejmalabarka.com) .
