NBS’s broadcast started on June 16, 2008 when it was registered and got its license and by then had only one transmitter. The station held ten years anniversary in June 2018. It has a number of notable senior on-air personalities including Canary Mugume[3] Rukh-Shana Namuyimba and Solomon Sserwanjja.[4] Also one of the most celebrated female journalists in the region Joy Doreen Biira was a pioneer presenter.

The station is known for its focus on politics hence the tagline (the Political Command Centre). The station has one of the biggest political talk show the Frontline[9][10][11] that brings together political leaders from different political parties in the land every week.
