The municipality Forstern, located in the southern district of Erding, Ebersberg directly to the district border, arose in her almost unchanged municipality due to authoritarian arrangement at the beginning of the 19th century, originally as a "tax district". This municipality thus formed comprises today 18 villages, hamlets and deserts.

Geographically the western municipality located in the expiring flat Munich gravel plain that reaches as far as the town Forstern, in the east, the municipality is on the other hand, in a scenic attractive, wooded and undulating hills.
