Hololive production is a Japanese virtual YouTuber (VTuber) office operated by Cover Co., Ltd. The name comes from the live distribution service "Holo Live" with the representative idol Tokino Sora as the image character.

History
On September 7, 2017, Cover Co., Ltd.'s first virtual YouTuber "Toki no Sora" started its activities on Nico Nico Douga. Initially, it was distributed on Nico Nico Douga and the archive was published on YouTube, so full-scale activities on YouTube started on December 12 of the same year. At the same time that Tokino Sora started working on YouTube, the audition for "Roboko-san" started. At that point, neither Hololive Production nor Hololive existed. “Sakura Miko”, which will start its activities on August 1, 2018, is also under the jurisdiction of the “Sakura Miko Project”, regardless of Hololive.

On May 2, 2018, on the audition page of the official website, 4 of the current Hololive 1st generation students, excluding "Mel Yozora", and 5 including "Chris Hitomi", whose contract has been canceled Recruitment of auditions has started. Yozora Mel debuted on May 13th as a pre-debut. Five people who auditioned made their debut on June 1st. However, out of the five who debuted, "Chris Hitomi" stopped his activities due to troubles with his own related parties, and on June 26, the contract was canceled considering the impact on other VTubers.

On December 2, 2019, the female VTuber group "Holo Live", the male VTuber group "Holo Stars", and the music label "Inonaka Music" were integrated into the office "Holo Live Production".

In April 2022, it won a special prize at the NexTone Award 2022.
