Let’s say you want to get things done.
Let’s make a list of the things you want to do.
Then let's put each item in a card.
Repeat this for each thing that you want to do. And then let's put all these cards in a board and classify them using three columns: to-do, doing and done.
That is what the software does for you.
This board where we put all cards is called a kanban board (a board with cards in it). The word kanban comes from Japanese and it means card that you can see.
Each task becomes a card or kanban.
An organized way to work is to only put things on a board that relate to each other.
For example, let's say you want to build a chair you would have the following tasks: buy some wood, cut the wood into pieces, assemble the pieces and paint or varnish chair.
You can have as many different boards (lists) as you need. Let's say you have a board for house chores, another one for work issues and another one for fixing the car.
Keeping lists (kanban boards) separate makes it easier to manage your work. In addition, for each of these lists, you can get a graphic representation of where you are. This visual representation is very useful.
This visual representation can be specially appreciated if you have a wide screen or if you, place your mobile in landscape mode.
For each task (card or kanban) we provide a timer. You can track the time you use on each task.
We use the pomodoro method which consist of breaking the time you work on a task into intervals not larger than 30 minutes. A sound will notify you when an interval is over. After each interval you take a five minute break. You can use as many intervals as needed to finish a task.
This helps a lot if you want to improve your productivity, want to reduce distractions while working, have trouble paying attention, multitask too much. It has been recommended for those who suffer from ADHD.
Scientific experiments indicate that this is far more effective and efficient than working straight for a couple of hours. In addition it has great health benefits because it makes you stand up and walk a little every half hour.
You will get more things done with less effort.
Give it a try!
