The teachings of A.C. Bhaktivedānta Śrīla Prabhupāda and the great teachers (achāryas) of the Gauḍīya Vaisnava Sampradāya form the basis for the Abhay Charan foundation. A Krishna-conscious way of life is therefore an integral part of the foundation's mission. However, the emphasis is on Śrīla Prabhupāda's specific "boil the milk" instruction, in which he advises his followers to invest in the development of existing practicing members of the community.

Boil the milk
Śrīla Prabhupāda has given the 'boil the milk' instruction in several letters. For example, a letter dated 9 May 1972 states the following:

“You can dilute milk by adding water and you can thicken it by boiling. Now it's time to start the cooking process. Now you know all about how to be a Vaishnava brahmana, now you have to practice these things, otherwise it's just a show. Better to cultivate the few devotees we have, to make them truly Krishna-conscious boys and girls, than to continue to accumulate many followers who do not understand and apply the true principles. Better one moon than so many stars.”

The mission of the Abhay Charan foundation is based on the above instruction from Śrīla Prabhupāda. In the Netherlands we often receive signals from devotees who have been practicing the bhakti process for some time that they lack spiritual depth and mutual relationships. Based on this lack, individuals or groups develop various initiatives. However, these are fragmented. The Abhay Charan Foundation has the mission to combine these initiatives and strengths and to give them a platform. We think that from this hard core not only the community of devotees can be strengthened, but that we can also inspire people outside our own community for a Krishna-conscious way of life.

Focus on the youth
Although our activities are aimed at all ages, we pay special attention to the spiritual and cultural growth of children and young people in the community. After all, today's children will be tomorrow's leaders.

Śrīla Prabhupāda, in a letter dated June 20, 1972, says the following about children:

“If we are able to make a whole generation of our children fine Krishna-conscious preachers, it will be the glory of our movement and also the glory of your country. But if we neglect somehow and if we lose even one Vaisnava, that is a very big loss.”

Projects and activities
The foundation seeks to achieve the above mission through the following projects and activities:

To develop, organize and provide courses, symposia, events, workshops and other inspiring educational and spiritual activities that promote spiritual growth and awareness.
Opening up and sharing knowledge, reading, visual material and other data for cultural and spiritual education.
Empowering and supporting educational initiatives and collaborations between educators, educational institutions, spiritual institutions and professionals.
Providing information.
Providing and popularizing traditional Vedic utensils and articles.
