The application displays the contents of the eight special funds of National Library of Serbia.
The Department of Special Collections Library of Serbia Naro be collected, stored and given to the use of library materials that they do not belong in general, the regular library fund. This "special" stuff is grouped into several separate units or collections that have their own characteristics and specific to the type of library material, and then the valuable cultural, historical and museological and scientific value. These are the following funds and collections: Collection of young literary manuscripts and archival materials, Fond old, rare and miniature books, Graphic Collection, Cartographic Fund, the Fund photographic documents, collection of music, audio and audiovisual material, library and legacy fund units and other special collections.
A large percentage of the value that today belong to the Department of Special Collections was killed or disappeared during the First World War, and the most during the bombing of 1941: Libraries are Vuk Karadzic, Duro Daničića, Lukijana Mušickog, then a large number of old and rare books, photographs, prints, posters as well as the rich archives of Turkish documents on Serbia. Although the mid-19th century the Serbian librarian Filip Nikolic recognized the need to group together this collection special and protected, it could be said that the Department of special funds established for the first time only in 1947 go dine.
Build in the fund arrived mandatory instance, often buying and donation or exchange. Special decisions of federal and republican authorities in 1946 and the Library are assigned: Palace Library, the Library of the Senate, part of the Library of the National Assembly and the Library Company of Saint Sava.
In 1947 formed a total of nine departments of the National Library, two of which are important for the genesis of the Special Funds: Department of additional collections, which is cultivated maps, atlases, music scores, pictures, posters and so on. and the Department of manuscripts, old and rare books. Later, in 1961, the two formed today's Department of Special Collections, on the one hand, and, on the other, Arheografski department, which continues with the study of handwriting. Reading special fund has 37 seats and 10 computers and it can be koristititi specific types of materials, which are of great cultural importance and have a great museological value. There is also a cartographic reading room, which is equipped with a table for viewing and accurate tracing of maps and plans, as well as musical reading room for the use of music and sound records.
