This prayer was mentioned for the first time in the book of Kunuz al-Najah by Sheikh Tabarsi, and works such as Wasa'il al-Shi'ah (by Sheikh Harr Ameli) and Jamal al-Asbu '(by Sayyid ibn Tawus) have also quoted it.

It is said that the Imam of the Age taught the Faraj prayer to Muhammad ibn Ahmad ibn Abi alith, who had taken refuge in Kadhimah for fear of being killed. He was saved from death by reciting this prayer.

Faraj prayer is one of the pursuits of Imam Zaman prayer and one of the acts of the crypt of absence. This prayer is mentioned in the book Mafatih al-Jannan in the prayer section.
