Follow the 3rd edition of Regards Satellites here, from January 29 to February 9, 2025 at the l’Écran cinema in Saint-Denis.

This year, Regard Satellites is launching its competition for first or second international independent films presented in preview or previously unreleased. The competition films will be screened in the presence of some of the filmmakers.

Three prizes will be awarded: the Université des Créations / Paris VIII Student Prize, the SensCritique Prize / Regards Satellites and the Xenia Public Prize, offering the winners recognition and the chance, for some, to find a distributor in France .

Tribute to Sarah Maldoror: Retrospective of the influences and collaborations of the activist filmmaker Sarah Maldodor (1929-2020) whose life and career embrace all the commitments of the 20th century: surrealism, negritude, pan-Africanism, feminism and communism.

Material and memory of the Brazilian peripheries: retrospectives, master class and round table. Brazilian filmmakers Adirley Queirós and Lincoln Péricles take a cinematic look from the point of view of the Brazilian “suburbs” and invert the relationship between the center and the periphery.

Meeting with the Kyrgyz filmmaker Aktan Arym Kubat: The filmmaker Aktan Arym Kubat will present his latest film, unreleased in theaters, Esimde (This is What I Remember) as well as the film of his son, the director Mirlan Abdykalykov, Kyz ala kachuu (Bride Kidnapping ).

In the heart of the United States: For the second year, Rebecca Fons, director of programming at the Gene Siskel Center in Chicago, is inviting the festival to go to the heart of the United States to see unique films from independent American production. .

Korean social cinema 1st chapter: In 2023, the film About Kim Sohee brought the social counterpart of Korean cinema back to the forefront.
This first part explores this genre, which is little known in France, through two rare films by director Kim Mi-re: Weabak, Our Nights of Strike and The Anti-Japanese Armed Front of East Asia.

Cinema-concert: The Fall of House Usher by Jean Epstein.

With original music composed and performed on ondes Martenot by Augustin Viard. The ondes Martenot constitute one of the oldest electronic musical instruments, designed from 1918.

Young Audience programming: Regards Satellites also offers great discoveries for young audiences. Around ten sessions are intended for schools, some of which will be open to the public

Cartes blanche given to partner filmmakers and festivals: At the heart of the Regards Satellites, the Cartes Blanches offer a dive into the 7th art which inspires and nourishes the filmmakers and programmers of partner festivals, thus offering a fascinating perspective on their cinematographic tastes and their artistic vision:

Laïs Decaster, Caroline Poggi and Jonathan Vinel, as well as festivals: Chéries-Chéris, Le FID Marseille, Ciné-Junior, Côté court, Panorama du Cinema Colombian, Documentaries on Grand Ecran, Ateliers Varan and Acid Pop.

Tiradentes: Replica Regards Satellites from April 3 to 6, 2025 at the Cinéma l’Écran and April 7, 2025 at the Cinémathèque française.

In around ten significant titles, mainly feature films previously unreleased in France, and a session dedicated to short films, this program will be an opportunity to look back on twenty years of broke and inventive Brazilian cinema, too little known in our latitudes, and to question the writing of a history of contemporary cinema through the links between festival programming and critical work.
