The Rural Guardian System is a direct monitoring project, with the collaboration of farmers, for the Witch's Broom disease, a pest that is ravaging the northern state of Amapá, with reports of its appearance in eight municipalities. This disease is a fungus that, when developing in cassava and manioc, kills the plant, causing the roots to rot, resulting in a lack of production.
The goal is to monitor the development and location of the fungus so that public policies can be developed to combat phytosanitary issues and assist rural producers. The collected data will also be available to the public through the institution's official website for public consultation, in compliance with the General Data Protection Law.
