The government decided to establish the "Pharmaceutical Industry Technology Development Center" at the Fourth National Science and Technology Conference in 1980. The main purpose is to assist the industry in drug research and development, strengthen the short, medium and long-term technological development of the domestic pharmaceutical industry, improve the overall domestic industry level, and achieve the goals of pharmaceutical industry upgrading and internationalization.
At that time, Chairman Liu Qiusheng of the excellent pharmaceutical company led the planning. First, the Industrial Bureau donated NT$20 million, and the pharmaceutical industry raised NT$40 million. A fund of NT$60 million was set up. On January 15, 1982, the center was approved by the Ministry of Economic Affairs to establish the center.
With the changes in the industrial environment, human quality of life needs and the rapid development of medical and healthcare equipment technology, the center's business has gradually expanded to include technology research and development and guidance in the medical and healthcare equipment industry. In response to practical needs, it was officially renamed "Pharmaceutical Industry Technology Development Center" in 1993. In order to inherit the original intention of its establishment, it will continue to serve the needs of the pharmaceutical industry and expand its professional service scope. At the same time, it is also committed to the establishment of a communication platform among industry, government, academia and research, to effectively improve the overall technical level of the pharmaceutical industry, so as to facilitate the development of technology, industrial upgrading and internationalization.
