13th Swiss Congress of Specialized Pedagogy: The CRPD in Switzerland: assessment and perspectives

On April 15, 2014, Switzerland acceded to the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD) of December 13, 2006, reinforcing its desire to do “everything in its power” to promote equal opportunities and prevent any form of discrimination within society. Where are we ten years later? Is it true that everyone talks about the CRPD but no one implements it? How and to what extent has Switzerland made this commitment a reality? What remains to be put in place to guarantee these rights?

During this Congress, the assessment and perspectives will be drawn up by comparing four perspectives: 1) the law and its application, 2) education and the use of resources to guarantee fair opportunities, 3) institutions and good practices to support the self-determination of the individual, 4) the people concerned and their involvement at various levels.
