What is PM Kisan Samman Nidhi?
Step-1
Check the eligibility criteria to avail of the income support from the Central Government PM Kisan Samman Nidhi. The plan costs Rs. 75,000 crore to benefit 125 million farmers, no matter the size of landholding. The scheme applies to every state and union territory. After successful registration according to the eligibility criteria, Rs. 2000 is deposited every four months in the farmer’s bank account.

The app PM Kisan Samman Nidhi provides all the required information and explains the procedures to obtain the payment. The facility applies to both urban and rural areas. Farmers must hold cultivable land in their own names. Small and marginal families will benefit to a great extent. The basic minimum support of Rs. 6000 annually directly paid to farmers in the bank account will help to pay certain expenses during difficult times.

Step-2
The Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare operates the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Help scheme through the Department of Agriculture. Reaching so many eligible farmers is a huge task and the PM-KISAN mobile app designed by National Informatics Center has been very effective in communication.

- PM-KISAN mobile app helps to know the registration and payment status.
- An aadhaar card is a compulsory document for valid information and names should be entered accordingly.
- The app contains important information and helps to dial helpline numbers.

Those who are not eligible: Income taxpayers, institutional landholders, present and retired government employees, doctors, engineers and lawyers, farmers holding constitutional posts and pensions receiving more than Rs. 10000 pm. They cannot obtain help from PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Plan.

Step-3
- The first step is to check the eligibility details. The scheme helps landholding farmers of whatever landholding size. Earlier, there were restrictions, and farmers owning less than 2 hectares were eligible.
- Registration may be done in the Farmer’s Corner on the official website pmkisan.gov.in. Farmers can also use the PM-KISAN mobile app to make name corrections according to Aadhaar and know the status of registration and payments.
- Mobile numbers are no longer used for communication and verification of status. The government website and the app have to be used.
- Regarding the required documents for registration along with Aadhaar, landholding documents and bank account numbers have to be submitted.
- Registration is also done by the local revenue officer (patwari) and nodal officer and Common Service Centres (CSCs) that charge a fee.

Step-4
Especially now under the covid19 pandemic, farmers are more stressed and certainly need economic support from Prime Minister Kisan Samman Nidhi even more. The problem remains to reach across the remote regions of the vast country to help lakhs of farmers who need help. Procedures need to be followed and internet connectivity is required.
