SICO (Information System for Death Certificates) is an information system whose purpose is to enable the entities involved in the process of certification of deaths to be articulated with a view to promoting an adequate use of resources, improving the quality and information, speed of access to data in a secure environment and respect for the privacy of citizens.
It was through this system that, since November 15, 2012 (experimental period), the first death certificates in electronic format began to be registered.
Under the terms of Dispatch no. 13788/2013, the trial period of SICO is terminated, being obligatory its use for the certification of deaths occurring in national territory, from 0:00 hours on January 1, 2014. In order to monitor progress technology, the SICO mobile application was created and developed that allows the doctor to easily access this information system.
