The free Pedra Portuguesa application was conceived in the context of the Primeira Pedra program as a unique database that provides information on the wide variety of Portuguese Stone from the national territory and its individual characteristics. This platform also provides a vast list of stone extraction, transformation and export companies in Portugal, with a network of substantial information on the respective industrial practices.

Designed to facilitate navigation and improve access to information about Portuguese Stone and its industry, this database comprises all types of stone found in Portuguese territory. Introducing stones by categories – Marble, Granite, Limestone, Shale and Slates – the platform breaks down all individual information by origins and occurrences, recommended use and available reserves, also presenting detailed descriptions of the material and chemical properties of each stone. This database is synchronized with a list of national companies in the stone industry, which includes their respective addresses and contacts.

With a notable research component, this application also serves as a link between companies and customers, reinforcing a network of contacts and establishing an archive of knowledge.

Primeira Pedra was an international experimental research program that explored the potential of Portuguese Stone. Focused on the absolutely unique physical-mechanical and aesthetic characteristics of the various types of Stone that make up the geological landscape of Portugal, Primeira Pedra combined production with design through the development of innovative uses of this unique material, thus enhancing its quality and the broad national industry. which is linked to its extraction and transformation.
