With the QS Climate Platform, QS is launching a tool that creates transparency and can support farmers in optimizing their farm's carbon footprint. The new platform enables farmers to consistently record, analyze, and specifically improve their CO₂ emissions.
Uniform standard for the industry
The goal of the QS Climate Platform is to establish a uniform collection and evaluation standard for CO₂ emissions in livestock farming. This creates an industry standard that enables comparison within the industry – and the individual climate performance of farms becomes visible. This offers real added value for farmers, slaughterhouses, and all other stakeholders along the value chain.
How it works – transparent and practical
Livestock farmers conveniently record their farm-specific primary data via the QS Climate Platform. With the help of practical examples and explanations of the requested primary data, the livestock farmer is guided through the input screen. This automatically transmits the data to the CO₂ calculator of the Bavarian State Office for Agriculture. There, the farm-specific CO₂ value is calculated – initially for pig fattening. The evaluation provides in-depth insights into the carbon footprint of the farm branch and offers a basis for optimizing farm-specific CO₂ emissions and identifies potential for improvement.
Full control over your own data
Farmers decide for themselves whether and to whom they share their CO₂ value – e.g., to their slaughterhouse, their bank, insurance company, or external consultants. Data sovereignty remains with the farm at all times.
Free for QS system partners
Use of the platform is free for all QS system partners. QS is thus setting a clear example for climate protection and digital progress in agricultural practice.
Launch with a focus on pig fattening
The QS climate platform will be activated for pig fattening at launch. Other production areas are to follow.
