SeeYou is the first Romanian app that connects visually impaired people with sighted guides for various everyday activities.
How did the idea come about?
It started with a simple goal: to support everyday needs like running errands, going to the post office or tax office — and also enjoying concerts, exhibitions, and cultural events.
What’s the goal?
We want to make cities more inclusive for everyone and break the vicious cycle we face as a society today.
Visually impaired people often become (self-)isolated due to an unfriendly built environment and the attitudes of others. The built environment and society don’t change because we’re unaware of the needs of people with visual impairment.
How does it work?
We’re always connected online, yet more disconnected offline than ever. Discover the world beyond the screen!
Are you a beneficiary? Turn a trip to an institution, the train station, or even a concert into a more pleasant experience by being accompanied by a guide.
Are you a guide? Step into the world of visually impaired people. Meet a companion and explore your own city in a new way.
Send and accept the SeeYou challenge! A shared journey.
Who’s behind it?
SeeYou is developed by AMAIS – the Association for Alternative Methods of Social Integration. Since 2015, we’ve been supporting people with disabilities in challenging stereotypes and making accessibility needs more visible. Learn more about us at www.amais.ro.
Where?
The SeeYou app is currently available in: Bucharest through AMAIS, Cluj-Napoca through ANR Cluj.
We will gradually expand in other cities.
