The APISANA project was conceived within the ROMAPIS federation in 2017, was evaluated and approved by AFIR in the expression of intent phase in 2018, the documentation was submitted in the second evaluation phase in 2019 and qualified for funding in 2020 and the financing contract was signed on 31.05.2021.

The general objective of the project is to create a database that will derive from the preparation of a study regarding the presence of contaminants in agricultural crops that have a harmful effect on bees.

The approach to this issue is based on the use of a vehicle called a "mobile laboratory", which has the role of providing beekeepers with the essential equipment and materials for the collection and correct preservation of the samples collected from the field and from the apiary until the moment they enter the analysis procedure laboratory for the detection of possible contaminants, in case of incidents of acute poisoning of bees. The equipment of the mobile laboratory is complementary to its use of competent and qualified personnel for this activity, complemented by the know-how acquired during the implementation of the project.
