This mobile application represents the decision support system for farmers that can help peri-urban farming in West Africa and Morocco through agroecological transformation of production. It is available both in English and French language. The app works online hence farmers must have access to the internet. It is a simple tool with several functionalities. Agroecological Quiz is there to evaluate farmer’s knowledge on agroecology. In the „My Farm“ section, a user is entering basic information at the farm level, including animal production (if any) and the assessment of local resources. Each agricultural field can be recorded in the „My Fields“ section where relevant data on used practices should be provided. When creating a field, a farmer can be on that field to get geolocation (offline) or to select location of the field on the map (online). Further, the integrated model calculates humic balance for that specific field in the previous growing season. After collecting all the information, main issues are identified at the field level. With the rule-based
model, relying on the agroecological methods matrix, recommendations on agroecological methods are given specifically for that field. The app also includes suitable educational material with learning videos in local languages from the Access Agriculture website, profiles of pioneer farmers from the Triple performance platform, Facebook groups of farmers, and links to different agroecological networks, which are customized for each user. The app is developed within the Horizon Europe project URBANE (One Health approaches to support agroecological transformation of peri-urban farming) funded by the European Union under the grant agreement no. 101059232. Disclaimer of Non-Official Status: the app does not represent a government entity nor provides any government information; it is solely the result of research performed within the URBANE project, where the case study countries were Benin, Burkina Faso, Ghana, Senegal, Nigeria and Morocco (https://urbane-project.eu).
