This fundamental study, which provides information about the history of tools, formation of ensembles and orchestras, traces the evolution of orchestral styles in Western Europe and Russia from the XVI century to the beginning of our century. The first edition was published in Russian in 1932 for professional musicians, students of music schools, college and university students, as well as for music lovers.
