HOW TO PLAY

Rummy is a card game with two or more players and a 52-card deck of standard playing cards. In this version, up to four players can participate, either computer opponents or friends online.

Each player receives 7 cards for their hand. The goal of Rummy is to arrange your hand into special combinations, or melds. There are two kinds of "melds". These are "runs" and "books".

1) A run is a "straight" in a row, where your cards are in numerical order with no gaps. For example, 2-3-4 is a straight run. So is 10-Jack-Queen.

2) A book is three or four of a kind. For example, 8 Hearts-8 Clubs-8 Spades is a book. So is King Diamonds-King Spades-King Hearts-King Clubs.

In this Rummy game online, three-of-a-kind is called Tris. Four-of-a-kind is called Poker. A straight is called a Straight. The first person to arrange their cards into a run or a book wins.

In some versions of Rummy, there can be a "wild" card that represents whichever value the player wants. This multiplayer Rummy game online does not use the wildcard feature.

After the cards are dealt, the rest of the cards are stacked on the table as the Draw pile, also called the Stock. The top card is turned over face up to start the Waste pile.

Each player, when it's their turn, has the choice to choose a card from the Stock pile or from the Waste pile. Then they check to see whether they can place a run or book on the table.

If not, they discard a card and the turn moves to the next player. The play continues clockwise around the table.

When a player places down all their cards in a run or book, they win the round. Their score for the round is the sum of the card ranks of the opponents.

Face cards count for 10 points. Aces count for 1 point. Other cards count for their face value. For example, a 10-K-7-8-4 hand would be worth 10+10+7+8+4 = 39 points. If the player places all cards on the table in one turn, their points are doubled.

The first player to 150 points wins the game.
