The book of interpretation of Jalalain is generally considered to be a classic Sunni commentary book that is widely used as a reference, because it is considered easy to understand and consists of only one volume. Jalaluddin al-Mahalli's Tafsir was originally compiled by Jalaluddin al-Mahalli in 1459, and then continued by his student Jalaluddin as-Suyuthi in 1505. Jalaluddin al-Mahalli started writing commentaries from the beginning of Surah Al-Kahf to the end of Surah An-Naas, after that he interpret Surah Al-Fatihah to completion. Al-Mahalli then died before he could continue. Jalaluddin as-Suyuthi then continued, and started from Surah Al-Baqarah to Surah Al-Isra'. Then he put the interpretation of Surah Al-Fatihah at the end of the sequence of interpretations of the previous Al-Mahalli.
