Devotion to San Antonio appears on 5 June 1667 pursuant to evangelization in the valley of Marinilla, by the Franciscan FRAY MIGUEL CASTRO in a report of "missionary Franciscan missions" one in the town of San Jose and one on the site swirl dedicated to San Antonio, perhaps under the patronage of Padua.
