Community application for collecting and visualizing Sargassum observations

This application allows any marine user (boater, fisherman, etc.) to report a Sargassum raft sighting and specify its type (based on the nomenclature of Ody et al., 2019). The raft type and geographic coordinates, derived from the smartphone's position, are automatically stored on a server, which then allows the observations to be visualized.

This application will enable a citizen science study and share knowledge between researchers on the subject and marine observers.

The "Research" section provides practical tools for scientists to measure rafts at sea.
