The Cyber Security and Technology Crime Bureau (CSTCB) of the Hong Kong Police Force (HKPF) launched the “Scameter+” mobile app (the “App”) to help the public identify frauds and online pitfalls and increase their crime prevention awareness. The App features the following key functions:

1) Assess the Risk of Fraud Instantly
Users can enter the platform account name or number, payment account, phone number, email address, and URL, etc. at the one-stop scam and pitfall search engine “Scameter” to instantly check if the input information is related to any scam report.

2) Read and Share Scam Prevention Advice Easily
Users can easily read the latest scam prevention advice and related news and share them with friends and family via various social media platforms.

3) Receive Real-Time Push Notifications
The App will keep users informed of the latest crime trend and prevention tips, so to minimize their risk of falling prey to scams and make them become a smart e-citizen.
