Natural value assessment of forests should always precede forestry measures. It determines whether or how much of a tract should be left untouched or set aside in connection with felling. It also means support for target classification and effective planning for nature considerations. Nature value assessments also help you assess the quality of nature conservation provisions.
The Canopy Forest Monitor app means that there is finally a digital decision support that makes the natural value assessment both smoother and more accurate. In the app, you have the opportunity to collect different types of geo-positioned data in the stocks to be assessed. Stock boundaries are loaded into the app as shp files or can be drawn directly into the app. Data can be collected both as points and for different sample areas.
The app also provides an assessment support where your collected data is weighted together according to an indication of the stand's nature values - Does it have a high nature value, is it a trivial production forest or a borderline case.
The data collection is dependent on which answers you provide, the amount of questions is determined and the data collected becomes dynamic. For the structures and environments to be assessed, there are both help texts and images as support.
