Among the main responsibilities of municipalities is to ensure the health of their citizens, implementing actions aimed at reducing risk situations and, among them, preventing climate change and monitoring and improving the quality of the air we breathe.

The Open Data Portal of the Madrid City Council is dedicated to promoting access to municipal government data and promoting the development of creative tools to attract and serve the citizens of Madrid.

Open Data (open data in English) is a global initiative, linked to Open Government policies, which aims to ensure that data and information, especially those held by public administrations, are published openly, regularly and reusable for all world, without restrictions on access, copyright, patents or other control mechanisms.

The philosophy behind these initiatives is to promote transparency, efficiency, citizen participation and economic development.

As citizens we want to know what gases we breathe, what daily routes would improve our quality of life or at what time to open our windows to breathe the best possible air in the places where we live.

And as developers and within the integrating project of this year we want to use the open data of the City Council to show them in an app that also has a double didactic and informative character and can serve to connect people and raise awareness about the care of the planet.
