Akie Koupis made a class decision to leave the café and supermarket industry and decided to purchase a bottle store. The family business opened its doors to the public in March 1990. The decision to shift industry's enabled Akie to not only have more time to spend with his loved ones, but it also opened the door to a new and successful career. It is located right at the heart of one of Bloemfontein's famous - 2nd Avenue Street. It was established in a shopping center that was in the shape of a triangle - which is the fourth symbol in the Greek alphabet, hence the name Delta.

Delta positions customer service at the center of its business. As co-owner, George Koupis believes, it is a great product that sells itself, however, this is not the secret to their large customer base and success, it is because they treat their customers like their friends and as though the sale is more than just a sales transaction. Delta has five express stores in Bloemfontein as well as a warehouse; where the deliveries to their loyal restaurants, bars and taverns take place.
