With the current Covid-19 pandemic, the movement of cash in the taxis has been a huge concern in spreading the virus, therefore as an intervention measure, Via Smart passengers can pay their taxi fares online using their bank card or a OTT voucher that can be purchased in over 5000 stores nationwide, stores such as Makro, Boxer, Cambridge and many more. Via Smart taxis are available 7 days week and are scheduled 4 times a day with current just routes from Johannesburg to KZN as a pilot run. The target is to rollout the service through out the country by the end of 2022.
