There are no pointers and no numbers. "WCLOCK" expresses the time with 110 neatly arranged letters, and the letters are changed every five minutes to form a declarative sentence expressing the current time: IT IS SEVEN O'CLOCK...IT IS FIVE PAST SEVEN. There is a dot on each of the four corners, and one dot lights up to indicate the text display time + 1 minute, two dots + 2 minutes... and so on, until five minutes later, the next "declarative sentence" lights up.
