Risk Ratings
Gain a greater understanding of a location’s political, operational, and security landscape with a color-coded, qualitative assessment of current levels of risk to operations in a country.
Read through each country’s detailed analysis or dive deeper into subcategories, such as political stability, civil unrest, and infrastructure.
Breaking and Verified Events
Breaking Events are triggered by events or activities in a specific location that both:
Have the potential to be high-impact incidents that could affect immediate physical or operational security, and
Diverge from the baseline security, operational or political environment in that location, and that we assess to be anomalous.
Our verified events database includes verified events of war, terrorism, unrest and violent crime (with a focus on organized crime). It records events from 2008. The database is designed to provide historical context to these threats for specific locations and to allow analysis of trends over time.
Future Events
Future Events covers one-off or recurring events that could cause operational disruption, heightened security threats or result in significant political decisions; in addition, this section lists public holidays. These are events that are typically planned or fixed weeks or more in advance.
We also cover security events – such as protests, marches, sit-ins and strikes – that are planned at much shorter notice. All Future Events are given a rating for their potential severity
