This Anti-Rig application has been built as an attempt to tackle the problem of election rigging and result falsification that has continuously plagued Nigerian politics. it cannot, by itself, solve this problem but it will go along way to closing most of the avenues available to those who want to falsify elections results.
A lot of the falsification occurs between the time the results are collated at the polling units and the time the grand totals are collated at the INEC (Independent National Electoral Commission) headquarters. This app works by allowing voters to send the results from their various polling units to our servers. That way, we can monitor the results in real time, we can determine the winner of the elections even before INEC is able to and, most importantly, we can forestall any attempts by INEC to falsify any of the figure. If their figures don't match ours, then we know that there has been falsification.
Every system is open to abuse so the app implements a range of tools and methods to filter out false or fraudulent submissions. This includes: cross checking multiple submissions from the same polling units to ensure that they match; capturing the phone location to ensure that the submitter was in the vicinity of the polling station when they sent their results to us; Preventing phones from sending more than one result for each election etc. Any user deemed to be deliberately sending false figures may be publicly exposed. The app also include human checks to compliment our computer anti-fraud algorithms.
Although this app is originally built for the Nigerian election, we are happy to adapt it for use to any other elections that may find it useful.
This app does not capture or save any user data.
