This app is your virtual guide to discover the Gäubodenmuseum in Straubing. It enables a vivid museum experience.


The Gäubodenmuseum Straubing offers a complete overview of more than 7000 years of history and archaeology of the region. The museum app tells stories about the archaeological cultures and sites, museum objects and topics relevant to urban history. It thus provides important background information.


There are currently texts, images and audio files for almost every room, from prehistory through the Roman period up to around 1200 AD. In the course of the intended renewal of the younger sections in the next few years, it is planned to complete the app for this section as well. The audios are mostly designed as radio plays and thus bring the museum's contents to life.


There are also two videos: one explains the significance of a Celtic-era finds, the other shows the development of Straubing’s old town from the Roman timest o the High Middle Ages. That last one can be played as a holographic projection with a pyramid attchement available in the museum shop.


To make orientation easier for visitors, the app has a localistion function. If you are in the museum, the content of the rooms you are in opens automatically. The app is available in German and English.
