Disaster Alert for BD automates components of the disaster management process, starting from providing weather updates, subsequent risk prevention and precautionary measures, early warning to risk prone communities, individuals, dissemination and coordination with communities, volunteers, relevant government and non-government organizations, shelter landmarks, fire services, medical service, emergency camps, emergency SMS to relatives, etc.
The idea for the application is to create a mechanism where the organizations can be coordinated in real time to ensure that risk reduction efforts are coherent and response efforts ensure no one is overlooked or left behind. During emergency response it is often the nearby communities that receive maximum help whereas the distant ones are relatively deprived. In the event of any emergency, the application would be used to coordinate between key agencies, volunteers in the field and impacted communities. The system would coordinate to ensure that volunteers receive notifications and be directed to provide their assistance at the right locations. As well as ensuring that community members are able to locate the nearest service point for their specific problem or request support from volunteers to their location. This mechanism will also support in mitigating overlaps and gaps in efforts.
