FlavorCharter is a mobile app designed to support academic research on taste and flavor perception.
The app enables users to rate real food items across ten key sensory dimensions—sweet, salty, sour, bitter, savory, fatty, astringent, piquant, aromatic, and texture—using intuitive radar charts. These ratings contribute to a growing research dataset that aims to improve our understanding of flavor perception, individual variability, and how these senses may be affected by cancer treatment, aging, diet, or other medical conditions.
Features:
• Structured taste evaluation protocol based on culinary and biomedical literature
• 36 real-world food items grouped by dominant flavor dimension
• Dynamic radar chart visualizations of flavor profiles
• Secure data handling and data de-identification after submission
This app is intended for participants in an ongoing academic research study. Participation is open to anyone and does not require an invitation. Before using the app, users are asked to review and sign a digital consent form.
