You may want to turn off this feature in some situations.
For example:
You may have a disk device with more than one partition and one of them is Time Machine partition. It is upset that the Time Machine partition will be automatically mounted and begin to backup when you insert the disk device.
You may want to manage your device by yourself, or mount it in readonly mode, it is a good assistant for you.
You may be a paranoia and cannot stand AutoMount feature. When inserting other people’s disk device into your Mac, you only want to mount some specified partitions.
