100 Latvians consists of people of different nationalities who have lived in the territory that became modern Latvia. Latvia does not have significant war strategists or outstanding warlords who conquered the world, however it does have excellent inventors, engineers, educators and philosophers, creative artists and musicians and many other outstanding people. This list was constructed to represent as many corners of the world as possible, including Latvians who are popular and visible to the greatest number of non-Latvian people. About a hundred Latvians have been chosen to honour Latvia's centenary in 2018.
