Anturia calls out for aid. The forces of the Imperium are slow to answer, and now mankind's enemies seek to take advantage of the weakened system and claim the prize for themselves. The massing of forces has attracted the attention of xenos both crude and barbaric and ancient and uncaring. And above all this a silent watcher in the cold dark has turned its gaze to Anturia too.

The system is weak and woefully underprepared for the coming onslaught. Can the Imperium muster its defence in time? Will the system be able to repel the power of Chaos? And what role, wittingly or unwittingly, will the various xenos forces play?
