---- About the author ----
Pebble the Pillbug started as children books for my two boys, who were crazy about insects and especially pillbugs.
Being a sensitive child growing up, I wanted to teach my sons that it's ok to have certain feelings, and it's ok to talk about them. Later they were diagnosed with ASD, and I am myself currently going through a treatment. And it seems that I am on the spectrum with both autism and ADHD.
Now that I am a single dad, I find it difficult to create a structured bedtime ritual. So I designed this app to see if it could help, and my sons seemed to really calm down.
I try to describe everything in the stories to appeal to their senses and sensory mindset, but each story also ends with questions that creates a dialog about emotions.
It is my goal to be able to work full-time on Pebble's calming universe, so I can help even more ND-families and create flexibility in our chaotic life (if you know you know).
---- Join our community ----
We have a private community where ND families can share everything about sleep and challenges in life.
Search for Pebble on Facebook (do we like FB? No, but the community part works)
Here I also announce and test new features that helps the bedtime rituals.
---- Roadmap ----
It's my ambition to create a pictogram based bedtime routine, in which our children can tick off a list: "Brushed teeth", check! "Put on pyjamas", check! To try and make the transition more fun and slightly dopamine dependent, because my sons can't seem to focus on this part. They are totally wild and eager to tumble about.
I also want to do some sensory grounding rituals such as stretching out their wings like a butterfly, hugging themself into a ball like a pillbug, reaching out like a caterpillar, etc.
Stay tuned for that.
