H265 is a High Efficiency Video Coding player app for viewing HEVC/H.265 video files and network streams in the MKV video container format. H265 is based on the VLC library with added libde265 HEVC video decoding. In addition to HEVC/H.265 video other formats are also supported. Users can stream video files from the network or add them via iTunes file sharing and watch them offline. The libde265 HEVC codec enables streaming services to simultaneously deliver HD video content to twice as many users in comparison to H.264 video format, or to cut the costs for streaming and network bandwidth by 50%.
