The Science of Sound
Moongate was developed based on scientific studies which demonstrate that listening to binaural beats can influence brainwave patterns to encourage specific mental states. Neuroscientists have identified several categories of brainwaves, each associated with a different mental state. Low frequency brainwaves correspond to sleep, relaxation, and meditation while high frequency brainwaves occur during periods of focus, learning, and problem solving. Studies suggest that it is possible to nudge the brain into these various states by synchronizing brainwaves with an external source of neural stimulation. This process is called “brainwave entrainment”.
What are Binaural Beats?
Binaural beats are an auditory phenomenon perceived by the brain when two slightly different frequencies are played separately in each ear. The difference between these two tones causes the listener to perceive a third distinct tone called the “binaural beat”. Over time the neural activity of the brain will synchronize with this binaural beat, shifting the brain into the intended state.

Binaural beats are most effective when the left and right tones are played separately in each ear. This allows the binaural beat pattern to form completely within your brain. For this reason, we recommend using headphones or earbuds for best results.
When listening through regular speakers, the two tones mix before reaching your ears, diminishing the binaural effect. You may still find benefits when listening through speakers, but effectiveness can vary.
