Until the 60's, Rio was the capital of the country, stage of great political-administrative decisions and popular demonstrations. With the foundation of Brasília, the city lost its district status, but remained one of its most important cultural centers, a point of irradiation of behaviors throughout Brazil.

Ever since responding to the confidence of its readers, as promised in the editorial of its launch on April 9, 1891, Jornal do Brasil followed the national historical process throughout the twentieth century. And it consolidated itself following the evolution of Brazilian society, maintaining its vocation for pioneering, both in terms of editorial quality and graphic production, serving as a model and reference for Brazilian journalism.
