SARDINIA is a mobile application dedicated to promoting tourism in Sardinia. Its guiding principle is interaction with the user, to inspire travel motivations, provide him with information on vacation themes and places of interest, and to accompany him, through the enjoyment of multimedia and geo-referenced content and useful services, during the travel experience.
The app originates from a visual identity and editorial study related to specific image, branding and marketing choices. The choice of the naming SARDINIA increases the spread of the SARDINIA brand by addressing international markets as well.
SARDINIA is functional and innovative in terms of diversification and comprehensiveness of content, aimed at different audiences based on their multiple interests; facilitation of content exploration, with simple, intuitive and immediate ways of search and use; and graphical interface and navigation, which have been based on the most modern app design trends and the guidelines of iOS and Android operating systems.
The app offers a customizable viewing and navigation experience, thanks to the creation of a personal account with which to enhance one's data and exploration preferences; enhances the stay experience through geo-referencing of content; and is a reference and support at all stages of the trip, from destination selection to follow-up:
- before: the app inspires motivation to travel to Sardinia and offers tourists who have already booked the trip useful info for planning stay, itineraries, events, etc;
- during: offers information and guidance during the travel/stay experience, qualified by the possibility of exploration of the territory on a geo-referenced basis;
- after: the sharing of the experience, associated with the degree of satisfaction, is a decisive factor in the orientation of choices, facilitated through integrations with social channels;
SARDINIA consists of content sections, which can be explored in different ways - map, experience/category and search - and through dedicated functional tabs:
BRAND, content regarding a cross-cutting theme across all content types;
WHERE TO GO, which collects the 'places' of the destination; associated with this section are the Attractor contents, i.e., geo-localized points of interest to which are associated 3D multimedia content, 360 and virtual tours, photo gallery and cover video, callbacks to other content and accommodation facilities nearby;
WHAT TO DO, where the activities and experiences offered by the destination are collected; associated with this section are 'Inspirational' content, editorial articles dealing with specific topics related to travel experiences and points of interest;
ITINERARIES, thematic routes linked to one or more points of interest;
EVENTS, events or anniversaries associated with particular periods of the year;
ACCOMMODATION FACILITIES, the hotel and non-hotel facilities, located on the island territory.
Interaction with users/tourists is based on the map and related points of interest. The various features allow users to choose and structure their vacation experiences. Navigation is developed through various modes:
- geolocation for a proximity-based experience;
- through brands characterizing the peculiarities of Sardinia;
- through trends (inspiring featured);
- via calendar (for events).
Other features are: login; favorites; navigator; sharing via social networks; displaying itineraries and events by date and on map; search; multilingual; splashscreen; filterable accommodations, via map navigation or by proximity; and support for additional planned services.
